How cute is this kid?

This year, we had a really mellow 4th of July. Josh had been in China for two weeks, so we were really craving some family time. We went to my parent's house for a delicious breakfast. The kids had a great time playing in their backyard. Then, my mom and dad were nice enough to keep the kids so that Josh and I could have some time together. We went to the grocery store and then came home to prepare a BBQ for that night.

We had my parents and Josh's parents over for dinner and fireworks. It was so nice to be together! We all had such a great time. I have to say, I made THE best dessert- the Brownie Pudding in the Barefoot Contessa "Back To Basics" cookbook. My mom even said it was the best dessert she has ever had. I highly recommend trying it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

After dinner, we got together with our friends across the street for fireworks. The kids loved the sparklers and kept calling them the "sprinklers." Then, in birth order, they each got to pick a firework. It was a beautiful night to be outside, together with people I love. What a great ending to a great day!

Look at these yummy popcorn balls my cute friend, Andrea made for the fireworks!

Thanks for the tip of the brownie pudding--you must make that for your next time hosting dinner group.

Your kids hair is kind of red, white and blue (brown!) It's so fun they all have different colors.

Brownie pudding! Oh man, that Ina Garten is evil, in a good way of course!

We wish we could have been with! The "sprinklers" looked so fun! Love you all!
