Preschool Jitters

Today was Parker's first day of preschool. Let's just say, things didn't start out very well.

Last night, we lost Parker's little lamb that he loves and sleeps with every night. I think it disappeared into thin air. Josh and I searched and searched and he is nowhere to be found. This morning, Parker woke up at five a.m. crying for Lammie. We looked again and couldn't find him. The plan was to take him for show and tell today. He was a mess all morning. Above is my attempt to take a first day of school picture of him. Poor little guy.

Thankfully, I found a back up. It's not the real thing and he knows it but it made him smile a little bit.
When we got to school, the nerves really started to kick in. I could see on his little face that he wasn't quite sure what to think. I managed to get this picture of him before he tried to make his escape!

The escape attempt begins! He literally tried to make a run for the front door. I picked him up and carried him into the classroom. Then, the tears began. Huge alligator tears. As his teacher pried him off of me, I tried to reassure him that things would be o.k. and I would be back soon. I left the room and waited for him to calm down. It took him a good ten minutes.
When I got back to the school to pick him up, he ran right to me with a big smile on his face! His teacher said once he calmed down, he did just great. She said he was very well behaved and she said she can tell he is very smart. :)
Here are some things he made on his first day. They read the book "The Kissing Hand." If any of you have a timid child and don't own this book, I would highly recommend it! They also made listening mouse necklaces to help them remember to listen and be as quiet as a mouse when the teacher is talking.

I can't believe my youngest is in preschool! It felt so strange to be without my little buddy! (I'm sure I'll get used to it!) Let's just hope he can adjust o.k. and learn to like school as much as Luke and Ellie do!

Cute little bug. He'll be fine once he gets into the swing of things. Timid little buddy.
